Thank you for your prayers for Bill Detmer.  He was finally allowed to discontinue Gancylorvir and a heart medication.  Stopping these two medications have allowed his kidney function to dramatically improve over the last couple of months.  Although low, his lung function remains stable since having Campath.

7/25/09
Please pray for Odra Workman and his family.  Odra has been in ICU at Duke for a couple of weeks.  No details available on what is wrong.  Please pray for his recovery.

7/24/09
Please pray for Jack Massa.  He has been having trouble with some shortness of breath and tiredness.  There is no evidence of rejection.  Please pray that he will feel better and that there would be no serious problems.

Please pray for my sister Sharon Hamby to be able to get strong enough to leave Durham Regional Hospital Rehab Center so she can start rehab at the Center For Living. Sharon got her lungs 9-11-08 and she hasn't been able to rehab because of different complications from the transplant. Please pray that she will be able to move forward and stay strong so she can soon get back home which is three hours away.

family.

Please remember the transplant team and program.  As you know it takes a great many people to make this happen for all of those who find themselves in need of a lung transplant.  The team has and is continuing to go through many changes to help strengthen and improve the system for the patients.  Prayer changes things.

5/17/09

Your continued prayer for Bill Detmer is appreciated.  He sustained severe lung volume loss due to a serious rejection.  Thankfully it appears that the rejection has been stopped but Bill has been left with low lung function.  We are praying that he will be able to maintain or even recover some lost lung function.  We would also appreciate prayer for his kidneys.  He is always on the edge of complete renal failure that would require dialysis.  We would like to avoid this for as long as possible.  After a bout with stomach flu in February, Bill was left very weak.  Please also pray that he would be able to regain strength and weight.

5/13/09
Please continue to remember Charlie Roberson in prayer as he works to recover from his heart surgery and subsequent respiratory failure.  The surgery left him very weak.

3/26/09
Please pray for the family of Kenneth Stone.  Kenny went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2009.

Your prayers for Bill Detmer have been deeply appreciated.  He received Campath just before Christmas.  There was some confusion about what exactly they were treating, Acute rejection or Chronic rejection.  None the less his insurance finally approved the treatment after a month of reviews.  It appears now that the Campath worked.  Bill's spirometry readings are increasing.  We are very thankful to the Lord for this gift.  Bill is experiencing some weakness and tiredness lately.  Please pray that this will improve along with his appetite.

12/24/08
Please pray for Jack Massa.  He went to the emergency room this afternoon and has been diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia and pleurisy.  Please pray for his quick recovery.

Please pray for Moses Mill.  He is in ICU battling rejection.  Here is the original request:
Please pray for Moses Millis he is in ICU with lung rejection, it has been two years and he can not seem to get past it.I know duke is an excellent hospital and doing all they can but now maybe it is time to put God’s hand on him and his healing. Please pray for him he has two son’s that need him very much.

My dad (ray Heneks) came out of surgery around 11 pm on 11/3/08. He’s had a rough few days but is responding well to his 2 new lungs and we couldn’t be happier. Please remember the soul and their loved ones who gave the gift of life to my dad in your prayers. Their sorrow and loss weighs heavily on us, but it is through their good will, the grace of God and the talented team at Duke that my dad and our family has hope.

11/13/08
Although still in ICU Charlie is awake and recovering from his heart surgery last week.  Please keep him in your prayers for a full recovery with no complications.  Also pray for Sharon and the family.

Bill Detmer is once again experiencing rejection.  He is to have Campath, but his insurance has denied covering it.  Please pray that his insurance company will approve the treatment and that it would be effective and the side effects would not be too great.

Charlie Roberson is scheduled to have heart surgery on November 5, 2008 at Duke.  They are going to strip the pericardium off of his heart.  Please pray for Charlie & Sharon, their families, the surgeons, doctors and nurses as they care for him.  Please also pray for his recovery.

10/25/08
Please continue to pray for Charlie Roberson.  Tests have determined that the cause for the fluid around his liver is being caused because the pericardium (sack around the heart) has attached itself to a part of his heart.  He is meeting with Dr. Davis on Monday to discuss surgery to correct the problem.  Please also pray for the Drs. To have wisdom in treating this problem and for Sharon and the family.

10/20/08
Please pray for Brenda Dixon.  Brenda Dixon and her husband Bob are now living in Durham. Brenda is working hard in rehab and waiting to be placed on the list following her next evaluation.

Please pray for Charlie Roberson. He received his double lung transplant at Duke in 2005. He was referred to a liver specialist last week to evaluate fluid around his liver. Tests show nodules and now he is waiting to be scheduled for a liver biopsy. Pray that the tests will all turn out well and that the problem will be easily resolved. Also for strength for he and his wife Sharon and their family.

8/31/08
Bill Detmer returned to Duke for a follow-up bronch.  The results showed continued mild rejection that was eventually treated with Sol-u-medrol and Prednisone taper.  He returns to Duke for another bronch in September.  He lost approx. half of his lung function which has been discouraging.  Please pray for his adjustment and that the rejection will not return and further loss of lung function be prevented.

8/11/09
Andy Acuaro deceived his new lung 7/22/08 at Duke and is still in ICU. Judy and his daughters would love your prayers and support.

Sharon Hamby got the call to relocate to Durham by August 5. Please pray that the Lord will guide her to be able to find affordable housing since she lives three hours away. She was just evaluated last week and she really didn't think it would happen so fast. This is a scary time and so much to take in . We serve a BIG GOD and I know that he hears and answers prayers.

6/15/08
Kenneth Stone is recovering well and improving at home.  Please continue to pray for his pulmonary function to improve.

6/12/08
Bill Detmer is experiencing two type of rejection.  He is a Duke receiving rATG for the first time.  Please pray that this treatment is successful in arresting the rejection and that his pulmonary function goes back up to where it had been.  Also that this treatment would not start a cycle of events that leads to one problem after another.

5/19/08
Kenny Stone was released from Duke last week to recovery at home.  Kenny had developed a serious infection and is continuing treatment with IV antibiotics at home.  Please continue to pray for both Kenny and Donna as they work to keep up with a very strenuous IV schedule and for Kenny to completely recover.

5/1/08
Please continue to pray for Kenny Stone.  He was finally transferred to Duke.  As of yesterday he was stable enough to be moved to 7800.  It has not yet been determined what has caused his fever.  Please continue to pray for his recovery.

4/26/08
Donna Stone called this evening stating that Kenny has been admitted to their local hospital with a severe infection.  He is too unstable to be transferred to Duke at this time.  He was moved to intensive care tonight.  Kenny received RATG for rejection last week, leaving him very vulnerable to infection.

Please pray for the Drs. At their local hospital to have wisdom in determining the best way to treat this infection; for Kenny to stablize enough to be transferred to Duke; for the Lord's Will for Kenny's recovery; for the RATG to work; for Donna to be able to rest as she needs to and for the Lord to be glorified in their lives.  Today is the 3 year anniversary of his lung transplant at Duke.
