Once the transplant evaluation is completed and you have been accepted into the Duke Lung Transplant Program/Listed, preparations need to be made.  By this time you have completed your planning form and have reviewed it with Ellen Stone.

Some patients may need to relocate to Durham temporarily.  Plans for housing also need to be made.   The Duke Lung Transplant Guide has a list of hotels and apartment complexes located in the area.  Some patients stay in extended stay hotels, some patients lease short term apartments, some patients lease short term houses nearby.  It all depends on what you are able to afford and if your health insurance provides an allowance for housing.
